Quick outdoor maintenance wins with ground panels and edging

Spending time in your garden – planting flowers, tending veggies, arranging pot plants – is something we all love to do. It’s the practical side of garden maintenance that can steal the joy. But it doesn’t have to!

At Jack, we make quick work of the jobs that keep your yard looking neat and tidy, turning them into tasks you can actually enjoy.

Messy edges, muddy backyard, uneven ground? That’s where our Jack Ground Panels and Garden Edging step in. In just 30–90 minutes, you can create clean, level, hassle-free spaces – and tick those ‘I’ll do that another day’ jobs off the list.

Ground panels: underfoot issues be gone!

Soggy paths, uneven ground and well-trodden areas can turn your garden into a messy space you’d rather avoid than enjoy.

Don’t let them linger! Our Matrix Ground Panels allow you to create a stable, level and squelch-free surface to solve your maintenance issues in minutes, keeping your outdoor space functional and hassle-free.

Here are some common issues they solve:

  • Soggy shed floors – Has rain or runoff left your shed floor wet and slippery? No one likes damp tools or soggy feet! Adding our Matrix Fast Floor Panels (Shed floor panels) lifts the floor off the damp, creating a dry, safe, non-slip surface in minutes.
  • Muddy paths – Paths turning into mud after kids, pets or heavy foot traffic? Pop in some  Matrix Ground Panels to create a dry, level walkway that keeps shoes clean and traffic flowing smoothly.
  • Lumpy land – Low spots, ruts, or bumps making you trip or causing tables, chairs, or loungers to wobble? Adding Ground Panels to your entertaining zones gives you a stable, flat surface so everything stays upright and steady.
  • Cooked BBQ zones – Is your patio or deck taking a beating from daily use and garden gatherings? Adding tough Ground Protection Mats protects the surface, creating a durable, spill-resistant area you don’t have to stress about.
  • Pothole parking – Ruts, mud patches, and uneven ground making your parking area a mess? Laying down Ground Protection creates a tough, level surface that protects the ground, keeps wheels rolling smoothly and upgrades your property’s appearance.
  • Slip and slide areas – Pool surrounds, water features, or sprinkler zones feeling slick and unsafe? Pop down a few non-slip Matrix Ground Panels to keep everyone safe and dry.

Jack garden edging – help your borders behave

Overgrown beds, spilled mulch, and messy lawn edges leaving your garden looking a bit chaotic? No worries!

Jack Garden Edging keeps your borders neat, defined, and easy to maintain, giving your garden a polished finish without all the extra work.

Which of these issues will you tackle this weekend?

  • Mulch mayhem – Mulch and soil spilling onto paths or patios again? Garden Edging keeps everything where it belongs, so your garden looks neat and you can finally give that broom a break!
  • Runaway roots – Fast-growing plants creeping into paths or neighbouring beds? Our Garden Edging keeps them in their lane, cutting weed control time and keeping your borders neat and attractive.
  • Mower madness – Jagged, ragged lawn edges after every mow? Edging gives you a clean, crisp separation between lawn and beds, making lawn mowing quicker, easier and your garden looking like a pro did it.
  • Bed base boost – Edging at the bottom of a raised bed keeps soil, mulch and compost in place, stopping it from spilling onto paths or lawns and making maintenance easier. Opt for simple Edging Strips.
  • Gravel gone rogue – Tired of stones spreading into your lawn, driveway or paths? Edging keeps gravel where it belongs, creating clean lines and making maintenance a breeze. Check out our range!
  • Vegie garden separation – When your vegies start growing into each other, it can be chaos. Garden edging keeps your crops separate, giving each edible room to grow while keeping your patch neat and easy to maintain.

How to install in less than 30-90 minutes!

Whether you want the ground to look and feel nicer underfoot or to tidy up and decorate those edges, our Jack Ground Panels and Garden Edging make fixing any of these common issues easy.

Here’s a quick step-by-step guide for installing each:

Ground panels – step-by-step

What you’ll need: panels, rubber mallet, broom, weed mat (optional), tape measure, utility knife and gloves.

  • Step 1: Pick your footprint – Decide where the panels will go. Measure the area so you know how many panels you’ll need.
  • Step 2: Clear and sweep – Remove sticks, stones and big bumps. A tidy base makes everything snap and join together more neatly.
  • Step 3: Optional weed mat – If laying on soil or lawn, roll out a weed mat and trim to fit with a utility knife. This keeps weeds from popping through later.
  • Step 4: Snap the panels together – Line up the interlocks and press firmly. Use a rubber mallet for a snug fit if needed. Work row by row.
  • Step 5: Trim to fit – Where you hit borders or curves, mark and cut panels with a utility knife or saw. Test-fit before final clicks.
  • Step 6: Clean and dress – Sweep the surface and step back to admire your handiwork!

Handy Jack tips!

  • Start against the shed wall, house fence or a straight line for easier alignment
  • A rubber mallet makes the panels fit without damage
  • For curves, cut panels into smaller sections and stagger for a smoother arc
  • Don’t try to force panels over large rocks or roots. Flatten the area first or the joins won’t sit right

Garden edging – step-by-step.

What you’ll need: chosen edging, rubber mallet, tape measure, string/pegs, stakes (for taller edging), level, and gloves.

  • Step 1: Plan your line – Run a string or hose to mark the exact curve or straight line you want your edging to follow. Step back and tweak until it looks right.
  • Step 2: Measure and cut – Measure the length and plan how many edging panels or length you’ll need. Trim panels as needed for end pieces.
  • Step 3: Slot in the panels – Push the first panel into the soil and tap gently with a rubber mallet so it sits firm.
  • Step 4: Interlock and align – Connect (hook or clip) each panel to the next, checking alignment and height as you go with a level.
  • Step 5: Stake taller profiles – For taller or heavy-duty edging, drive stakes behind the panels and fasten them to stop leaning.
  • Step 6: Finish and inspect – Sweep the adjacent path/bed, trim any excess turf, and give it a final visual check.

Handy Jack tips!

  • If you have hard soil or clay, soften the trench a little with water before tapping panels in
  • Use stakes every 40–60cm on taller profiles or sloping ground
  • Panels installed too shallow can lean over time. Better to set slightly deeper and backfill
  • Skipping the level check means you’ll spot a wavy border later. Check often and correct as you go
