How to install a slimline frame screen

If you’ve been staring at a blank wall wondering how to make it work harder, this is the project for you.  Jack Matrix Decor Screens with the Slimline Frame system let you turn any plain surface – a garden fence, an alfresco wall, a balcony screen into a genuine design feature.  No complicated tools, no tradies required.  Just a clean, modern finish you’ll want to show off.

This step-by-step guide walks you through the full installation process : from measuring up and fitting the frame, to mounting your screen onto the wall.  Ideal for DIYers tackling a feature wall, outdoor privacy screen or decorative garden panel for the first time.

You’ll never look at a bare wall the same again.

Additional materials needed for this project:

  • Drill
  • Mallet
  • 5mm drill bit
  • Tape measure
  • Spirit level
  • Mounting Screws (purchase separately)
  • Spray paint (if changing colour of screws)

  1. Prepare and fit the top channel

    Remove side u-channels.

Centre the top channel and press into place.

Drill a 5mm hole through frame and screen (centre)

Secure from the back on both sides.

  2. Assemble side channels

Slide side channels onto the frame.  Overlap with the top channel.

Tap gently until corners click into place
  3. Mark and drill frame holes

Mark fixing points on side channels.  Drill 5mm pilot holes (300mm from top and bottom).

Remove frame and widen holes with 12mm drill bit.

    Allows for expansion and contraction
  4. Position on wall

Reassemble frame on screen and mark fixing points

    Use a level to align
  5. Mount the screen

Screw into place and check that it’s level.

Don't overtighten. Screen should move slightly.
  6. Final check

Give the screen a slight wiggle.  It should move freely with temperature changes.
